The Inaugural Blessing of the Animals will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 on the lawn of the First United Methodist Church in Osceola.

I have received yet another request to remind everyone interested in having their animals blessed to bring your beloved pets dogs, cats, rabbits or whatever you might have to remembered "all creatures great and small and of all faiths and feathers." They will worship outdoors. Each animal will be blessed and given a blessing certificate and a bless and protect my pet collar tag.

If for some reason your pet is unable to attend (it might be under-the-weather or watching a really exciting show on the Animal Planet) a photo will work.) They ask owners to have dogs on a leash, other pets in a carrier.

As always, when you have your pet out, whether at home or out on a walk, have ID on the pet. For those of you that might not have been exposed to my last article, the Inaugural Blessing of the Animals will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 on the lawn of the First United Methodist Church in Osceola. This will be held in conjunction with the Methodist Country Fair. Sounds great! Looks like a great outing for you, your family and, of course, your pet. So mark your calendars for Oct 5. And that sure enough will be here next week.

It's unbelievable how time has passed so quickly! I thought that just came with old age -- ain't so! However, I ain't so old that I don't remember special events when I was young seem to arrive at a snails pace. Hmmm ...

Reports of strays all over the city. It is very hard to trap them when they ain't hungry. God will bless the kind souls that have enough love in their hearts to feed them; however, you cannot trap them if they are not hungry. Keep in mind that does not keep them from doing what nature invites them to do and that is one or more will be going into estrus and breeding will begin and the pack grows bigger. People report the strays, but by the time you reach the designated place, they have moved on down the road. Does any of this make any sense to anyone? Have patience.

As Jazz would say: "To learn and never be filled, is wisdom; to teach and never be weary is love."

Thought for the week: "Are you lonely, O my brother? Share your little with another! Stretch a hand to one unfriended, and your loneliness is ended."

Please keep that thought in mind, and remember there are those that need your help and cannot ask for it. They send me! Donate to the Mississippi County Animal Rescue -- P.O. Box 2374, Blytheville.
