BROOKLAND -- The Gosnell Junior Pirates continued their hot start to the season on Thursday night, opening 3-4A conference play with a convincing 32-0 win over host Brookland. BROOKLAND -- The Gosnell Junior Pirates continued their hot start to the season on Thursday night, opening 3-4A conference play with a convincing 32-0 win over host Brookland.

The Junior Pirates (3-0, 1-0) scored all the points they would need in the first quarter as Ronnie McShan darted 50 yards to paydirt and Matthew Miller added the two-point conversion for an 8-0 Gosnell lead.

The Junior Pirates added 12 more in the second quarter to hold a commanding 20-0 lead at halftime.

Tabari Herron broke a 42-yard touchdown run and Albert Boyd scored on a one-yard run for the Junior Pirates.

Gosnell added to its lead in the third quarter with another touchdown.

Herron and Tremaine Anderson connected on a 75-yard pass play. Marquel McKinney had the Junior Pirates other score, a 6-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

The 7th Grade Pirates also defeated Brookland, 28-8, and will travel to Caruthersville Tuesday night for a 5 p.m. game with the 8th grade game following.

The Junior Pirates will host Cave City at 7 p.m. Thursday.
