Family members and high school athletes from across the state will be in Blytheville for several days in early October for the Class 4A State Golf Tournament.

Thunder Bayou Golf Links will host the girls and boys 4A State Golf Championships, making it the fourth year in a row the state's third ranked golf course is involved in a state championship.

Coach Phil Parker and Valley View High School of Jonesboro will be the host school for both events.

The girls championship will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 2 and their practice round will be the day before. Some 65-75 girls, parents and coaches from all over the state will be in Blytheville, some for two or three days.

The boys championship will be held Wednesday, Oct. 9, and their practice round will also be held the day before. About the same number of players, parents and coaches are expected for that event as well. Thunder Bayou's Tony Peterson said Thunder Bayou is very proud and excited to be selected to host the two championships. He encouraged the community to "come watch some great golf."
