Ruth McWilliams Cisne

Ruth McWilliams Cisne, 92, of Fort Smith, formerly of Conway, passed from this life on Monday, July 15, 2013. Ruth was born and raised in Northeast Arkansas (Mississippi County). She grew up on a cotton and soybean farm where she chopped and picked cotton, raised a large garden and raised three children.

She had two daughters who are now deceased, Wanda Lewis and Glenda Spikes.

Her son, Gary McWilliams, and wife Janna survive her and reside in Fort Smith. She also has six grandchildren, Greg Spikes, Gena (Tom) Ziegler, Marty (Brandi) Lewis, Todd (Libbie) McWilliams, Robin (Brian) Owens, Christy (Laurencio) Rodriguez, and nine great grandchildren, Zack, Mac, Miya, Alex, Garrett, McKenzie, Taylor, Jessica, Jeremy and Nathan. She is also survived by three stepsons, Richard Cisne, Bill Cisne, Sam Miller, and stepdaughter, Janis Kendell, as well as numerous other family and friends.

Ruth was an active member of First Baptist Church of Manila for many years. After the death of her first husband of 37 years, Chester McWilliams, she moved to Conway where she met and married Bill Cisne. They were married for 19 years before his death in 2005. They were both active members of Central Baptist Church in Conway and the American Legion where Ruth was secretary.

In her later years, Ruth worked in retail at J.C. Penney and Montgomery Ward. She was also a dorm mother at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville prior to moving to Conway. Ruth has always enjoyed sewing, and she made many of her daughter's dresses, formal gowns and special outfits while they were in high school. Her other hobbies include both vegetable and flower gardening and cooking. She was an avid sports fan and you could find her watching basketball and football or any other sporting event she could find on the television.
