Ruth Elizabeth Gibbs
Mrs. Ruth Elizabeth Gibbs, 89, of Manila, widow of Mr. Claud Gibbs, passed from this life, Thursday May 16, 2013, at the Manila Nursing Center. Born at Camargo, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Amanda Feeler Dyke and was a 1941 graduate of Villa Grove High School in Camargo. She had lived most of her life in Illinois, was a retired piano teacher and a member of the Nameoki United Methodist Church in Granite City.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Richard Gibbs, a grandson, Jason Timmer, and a great-granddaughter, Abbey Renee Sevor.
Survivors include three daughters, Shelia Knutson of Honolulu, Hawaii,
Marcia Grimsley of Paragould and Laurel Froman of Monette; one brother, David Dyke of Camargo; four sisters, Shirley Moore and Margie Gunther, both of Mountain Home, Josephine Novak of Calumet City, Ill., and Carolyn Goenenwein of Dyer, Ind. She also leaves five grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was 2 p.m. Monday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Jim Rupert officiating. The family will received visitors Monday from noon until service time at the funeral home. There will be a graveside service 2pm Tuesday at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Edwardsville, Ill.
