Manila swept a pair of 3A-3 conference baseball games, rolling over Osceola 12-1 Tuesday afternoon before shutting out Corning 5-0 Thursday afternoon at home.
Zac Riley fired a no-hitter in Manila's run-rule victory over Osceola Monday. The junior right hander fanned 11 Seminoles while issuing five walks on the day, in improving his record to 1-0.
Brady Jones had a two-run single and scored three runs while Riley added a two-run triple with a pair of runs scored. Jordan Goff had a single and drove in three runs while also scoring once. Trey Walker had a run-scoring single and scored a run. Caleb Reinhart singled and drove in a pair of runs. Reinhart also scored once and stole a base. Will Croquart had a single and a run scored.
Jones fired a one-hit shutout in Manila's victory over Corning. Jones whiffed 10 Bobcats while allowing only one walk. Zach Reinhart went 2-3 at the plate and scored twice. Reinhart also swiped a pair of bases. Caleb Reinhart went 2-2 and scored twice. Jones and Riley both had RBI singles and scored runs while Goff added a single.
The Lions took a 1-0 lead in the first on a wild pitch before adding three runs in the second and a run in the fourth to cap off their scoring day against the Bobcats.
Manila (5-2, 3-1 3A-3) will return to conference action Monday when they travel to Rivercrest. The two teams will play again the next day at Manila. The Lions will host Walnut Ridge in non-conference action Wednesday before traveling to Harrisburg to close out the week with another conference game Thursday.
The Lady Lions dropped a doubleheader Thursday afternoon at Piggott. The Lady Mohawks won the opener 6-3 and took the nightcap 11-6. Taylor Teague paced the Lady Lions at the plate, going 2-3.
Manila will return to action Tuesday with a home doubleheader against Hoxie. The Lady Lions will close out the week on the road Thursday at Corning.
