Local charitable agencies represented on the Mississippi County Emergency Food and Shelter Board met this week to discuss the distribution of new funds from the Phase 30 National Board.

Local charitable agencies represented on the Mississippi County Emergency Food and Shelter Board met this week to discuss the distribution of new funds from the Phase 30 National Board.

The national board provides grant funding for local charitable organizations which offer emergency food and shelter to residents.

The local groups represented on the board are Blytheville Community Samaritan Ministries, Osceola Community of Shalom, Mississippi County Union Mission, Broadway Community Outreach and the Blytheville Gosnell Area Food Pantry, as well as the county Equal Opportunities Commission.

The board had previously met to distribute its annual grant funds of $23,773; this week's meeting was to notify the group that an additional $3,982.

The EOC will receive 25 percent of the additional funds, with each of the remaining agencies receiving 15 percent.
