A pedestrian struck by a vehicle on East Highway 18 Monday morning has died from injuries suffered in the accident, Blytheville police said Tuesday afternoon.

A pedestrian struck by a vehicle on East Highway 18 Monday morning has died from injuries suffered in the accident, Blytheville police said Tuesday afternoon.

Around 6:44 a.m. Monday, Mike Perkins, 45, was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound in the 4000 block of East Highway 18, according to BPD captain Ricky Jefferson.

"Perkins was crossing the highway when he inadvertently stepped in the traffic lane," Jefferson said.

The accident occured near the Hard Hat convenience store, according to Blytheville Police Chief Ross Thompson.

Perkins was transported by Pafford Ambulance Service to Great River Medical Center and later flown to The Regional Medical Center in Memphis where he later succumbed from his injuries.
