Blytheville Public Schools are already preparing for any potential problems that could arise from the closure of Central Elementary and Blytheville Charter School.
During Monday's monthly meeting, Superintendent Richard Atwill told school board members that the district might run into a problem with its Local Education Agency numbers once Central Elementary and the Intermediate School consolidate. Atwill said he doesn't anticipate problems from Child Nutrition Services or the financial department, but Academic Accountability might be an issue.
"Child Nutrition Services and Finance are no big deal, but Academic Accountability -- we might see some issues," Atwill said. "What are they? We don't know yet. We haven't gotten word back from them."
Atwill said the district will also need a new LEA number for the high school because of the conversion charter the school obtained.
The board also recognized two Central Elementary students, Demetrius Goings and Isaiah Jackson, for their outstanding Black History Month projects, and heard songs from the Central Select Choir.
