WYNNE--The Blytheville Chickasaws were officially eliminated from playoff contention after a 52-38 loss to the Wynne Yellowjackets Friday night.

Blytheville (4-19, 1-9 5A-East) is now five games behind the fourth place Yellowjackets (6-4 5A-East) with just four games remaining. It will be the second straight year the Chicks have not made the state playoffs.

Blytheville trailed by two heading into the second period but did not score again until 50 seconds remaining in the half Yellowjackets took a double-digit lead into halftime.

The Chicks played Wynne basket for basket the rest of the way.

"We were trying to make plays that weren't there," said Chickasaw head coach Jeff Flanigan. "That's what happens when you're struggling. Guys were just trying to make things happen. I can't fault them for that."

Blytheville was without starters Darrius Furlow (ankle) and Michael Williams (personal) along with DeMarques Evans (personal).

"Wynne presents tough matchups," said Flanigan. "They have quick quards and big strong post players. You try to limit which ones will have big games and not have multiple guys have big games."

Blytheville was led by Floyd Bolden who scored 12 points.

The Chicks stay on the road for a game at Nettleton Tuesday night before returning home next Friday to take on the Forrest City Mustangs.
