A Steele woman lost her life in a fire at her home on Wednesday morning.

At 11:53 a.m. Wednesday, the Steele Fire Department responded to a blaze at a mobile home on Bellevue Street to find the home already engulfed in flames and smoke, according to Steel Chief of Police Billy Joe Stanfield.

Firefighters worked on extinguishing the fire and entered the home, where the body of 56-year-old Nancy Lorretta Thorne was found.

The Missouri State Fire Marshal was contacted to assist in processing the scene, and initial investigation shows an undetermined cause of the fire, with no foul play suspected.
