Elsie Mae Brooks
Elsie Mae Brooks, 94, of Leachville, passed from this life, Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at Monette Manor Nursing Center. Born at Ash Flat, she was the daughter of the late James and Gertrude Hyslip Ford and the widow of Mr. Hubert Brooks. She had been a Leachville area resident since 1937 and was a longtime member of the Second Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, Elmer Brooks, a daughter, Laura Skaggs, four brothers, two sisters, and two grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Jerry Brooks of Leachville and Larry Brooks of Caraway; one daughter, Jo Ann Guge of Leachville; two sisters, Helen Mitchell of Leachville and Ann Ella Wilson of Indiana. She also leaves 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Linda Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in Leachville Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Friday evening, Feb. 1, from 6-8 at the funeral home.
