Coach Mike Bridges was honored with a retirement luncheon Thursday, Dec. 20, at the Manila High School auditorium. Co-workers, administrators, staff, family members and former players stopped by to wish him well.

Superintendent Pam Castor gave him a plaque in recognition of his 12-1/2 years of dedicated service to Manila High School.

During his years at Manila High School, he coached girls basketball, golf, baseball, assisted in other sports and served as athletic director for five years.

"It has been a great run and I have enjoyed it," Coach Bridges said. "I have received a lot of support from other teachers and coaches here."

Bridges said he is looking forward to retirement and spending more time on the golf course.

Coach Bridges and his wife Nita, a retired art teacher, live in Leachville.
