Good endings come from prayerful beginnings, this I believe!
My desire to put to use that which is necessary and good will bring forth a shelter that will serve the county well. Why am I so certain? I have had many recent calls asking what we need to make this thing happen. This is not a wish, a will-of-a-whisk, a willa, coulda or hope I can. It is what it should be to all those animals that are suffering out in the county and every person in the county should be a part of the plan.
Just recently a group of blood sporters, "cock fighters," were caught and arrested. Scoundrels working a sadistic split off from those that indulge in another blood sport -- fighting dogs. They have little to do to watch the horror of an animal being ripped apart. They were folks having a little fun betting on who has the strongest rooster, who has the sharper razor that will bring on a blood bath. I have to wonder if they behead the rooster and eat it. Daddy always said, "Never kill anything you can't eat."
The dog fighting is big out in the county -- most of the time out on a county road. Hell, it goes on in the city of Blytheville. If you have to hide to have your pleasure, maybe there is a reason.
One reason is big money -- a gamble on the fittest fighter dogs flown in. This ain't no little thing. I am taking the liberty to judge the ones putting on the show as low-life cowards. Years ago, the men stripped to the waste and fought in alleys. Now-a-days they let the animals do their dirty work.
It will take a lot of education and cooperation from the police force to help us combat these horrendous acts. I know many think this is blowing smoke up you-know-what, but you best take another look -- it is happening and has been happening for a very long time. I really don't have time to daily fight this problem -- to be honest, I probably do not have that much time on this earth. But, it is so needed, I am going give it what I got while I got it, and pray someone else will pick up where I leave off.
As Jazz would say: "Two are better than one, for if they fall, one will lift up the other." (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10)
Thought for the week: "Together is the nicest place to be." Hope your week is gonna be as good as mine is! I'll tell ya about it next week. Amen. Remember, we cannot do this thing alone -- send help to Box 2374, and God will bless ya!
