Manila's Robotic Team was named Rookie of the Year.

Manila High School Robotics Team earned the Rookie of the Year status at the BEST (Boosting Engineer Science Technology) competition held at Arkansas State University convocation Center. The group received a plaque that will be displayed in the high school office.

Mentors for the team are Cindy Bunch and Brandon Burgess.

The team named their robot Landon. The group also won first alternate in the BEST competition. Six teams qualified to go to Regional competition in Ft. Smith in December. If for any reason a final team cannot go to Ft. Smith, Manila's team will get to compete in Regional as first alternate.

"This is Manila's first year to have a Robotics team and I am very proud of all of them," Ms. Bunch said.

Members of MHS Robotics are: Board of Directors - JT Shotwell, CEO; Lindsey Carter, Tabitha Parks, and Zachary Reinhart. Members are Landon Woody, chief engineer; Tanner Baker, Haven Bohannan, Rachel Braden, Justin Bratton, Jonathan Carr, Jennifer Carroll, Alexis Cruz, JR Dehart, Kris Gann, Ashton Hale, Shae Hale, Lynn Lisk, Tristan McCain, Tanner Platz, Silas Ruddick, Tyler Smith, Geramie Stallings, and Kolby Stokes.
