Jeremy Bundren has joined the Manila First Baptist Church staff as student pastor. He has been in the ministry for 10 years.
He is a native of Marion, Ill., but has relatives in the Rector area. His grandfather was a pastor in the Rector area for many years. The ministry is what brought his grandfather and Jeremy to the Northeast Arkansas area.
After graduating from high school, Jeremy earned a bachelor degree from Indiana Wesleyan College of Indiana in 2005, and graduated from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., in 2007.
He was called to the ministry at the age of 20. Jeremy has been serving in Mattoon, Ill., for the last four years working with the youth ministry.
He and his wife, Amanda, moved to Manila earlier this month. They are expecting their first child in February. Amanda has an education degree. She has been substituting at the Manila School District since moving to Manila.
The Bundrens are enjoying getting acquainted with everyone and working with the young people in junior and senior high school. They have several activities planned including a youth revival See You at the Pole, a youth retreat in December, a fall festival, and a booth at the upcoming chili cook-off. His wife is getting "His Girls" program started again.
They have a name for the youth group, a scripture, and a logo is being created. The group will be called Chosen, using the scripture in 1st Peter 2:9.
They have Sunday School at 9:30 a.m., and meet on Sunday evenings at 5 p.m. and Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m.
