Dec. 31, 2012, will be Shirley Overman's final day on the Blytheville City Council.
This morning, Overman said she will not run again for her Ward 2 City Council post.
"I will not be a candidate for City Council," she said. "This was a very difficult decision."
Overman has served on the City Council since 2001. She has been active on the city's governing body, serving on several boards, including chairing the Finance and Purchasing Committee for several years until this year.
Ward 1 representative Monte Hodges has said he won't seek re-election either. Hodges recently won the Democratic nomination for District 55 state representative, and he has no Republican challenger in November.
Ward 3 representative Mylas Jeffers, the longest tenured Council member with more than 20 years on the board, has yet to announce if he will seek another term.
The other three Council seats are not up for election.
