Ervin Weeks

Mr. Ervin Weeks, 81, of Manila, passed from this life Thursday, March 15, 2012, at Manila Nursing Home.

Born in Moundsville, Ala., Ervin's father passed away when he was very young. His mother, Bessie Thorine Styers Weeks, eventually remarried James M. Griffin. Ervin worked for Caldwell Gin as Gin Operator for many years and had a strong bond with the Caldwell brothers. He was an avid wrestling fan and also enjoyed going to auctions. Ervin was very witty, had numerous funny sayings and was such a pleasure to be around.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Griffin; and four sisters, Flo Raynor, Maggie Ashley, Iline Mooney and Geraldine Larson.

He is survived by his niece, Debbie White and husband, Shane of Burleson, Texas;

His longtime friend, Chester "Dan" Caldwell of Blytheville; and

A brother, E.J. Weeks of San Antonio, Texas.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, in Dogwood Cemetery with Mr. Billy Holifield officiating. The family will receive friends from noon-1 p.m. in Cobb Funeral Home. An online register may be signed at cobbfuneralhome.com
