Manila swept a pair of 3A-3 conference games last week, defeating Rivercrest 60-35 Tuesday night at Manila before downing Piggott 55-36 Friday night on the road.
The Lions held a slim five point lead over the Colts at the half before building their advantage to 39-29 heading into the fourth quarter. Manila busted the game open, outscoring Rivercrest 21-6 in the final frame to pull away for the 25 point win.
Zack Day buried five three pointers on his way to a 17 point performance to lead the Lions in scoring. Scott Eubanks and Dillon Burrow also hit double figures, scoring 12 points apiece.
Garrett Lane led Rivercrest with 13 points while Robert Cooney added 10 for the Colts.
Rivercrest took the junior high contest 49-45.
Manila used another strong fourth quarter performance in the Lions' Friday night victory at Piggott. Manila led 26-13 at the half before the Mohawks cut the lead to 35-25 after three quarters. Manila outscored Piggott 20-11 in the final period to pull away for the win. The victory for the Lions improves their record to 16-7 overall and 11-3 in conference play. Manila finishes the season as the 3A-3 conference runner-up.
Scott Eubanks and Dylan Bogle scored 12 points each to lead Manila. Brady Jones scored nine and Dillon Burrow added eight.
Zach Redman led Piggott with 13 points.
Manila won the junior high game 51-36.
The Lions will return to action Tuesday night when they play host to Riverside and will close the regular season at home Friday night at home against Buffalo Island Central.
Lady Lions
Rivercrest got 25 points from Savannah Graham to lead the Lady Colts to a 66-52 3A-3 conference victory over the Lady Lions Monday night at Manila. Damonique Brown added 12 points for Rivercrest, who improved to 24-1 and 13-0 in conference action.
The Lady Colts led 14-5 after the first quarter and held a 34-24 halftime advantage. Rivercrest took a 53-40 advantage into the fourth period.
Emily Cook scored 15 points while Taylor Teague and Kirsten Adcock finished with 12 points apiece to lead the Lady Lions, who dropped to 12-9 overall and 8-5 in conference action.
Rivercrest claimed the junior girls game 48-29.
The Lady Lions will return to the hard court Monday night when they travel to Riverside to take on the Lady Rebels. Manila will close out the week with a road trip to Buffalo Island Central Thursday night at Monette.
