Buffalo Island Central lost a 55-51 heartbreaker to Des Arc in overtime Thursday night in the semifinals of the White County Invitational Tournament in Bradford.

The Mustangs, who dropped to 11-4 on the year, trailed 31-21 at the half before fighting back to pull within 37-35 at the end of the third period. The two teams were tied 47-47 at the end of regulation.

Brandon Lairsey notched a double-double, scoring 23 points while pulling down 10 rebounds. Daniel Davis scored 16 points and James Tate had eight points and 14 boards.

The Mustangs began the tournament with a 56-49 win over Midland Monday night. Tate led BIC with 16 points and nine rebounds. BIC led 13-11 after the first quarter before Midland rallied to take a 26-24 halftime edge. The Mustangs battled back to take a 40-38 lead heading into the final period.

Davis added 11 points while Lairsey contributed nine points and nine rebounds.

The Mustangs traveled to Cherry Valley Tuesday night and came away with a 65-46 2A-3 conference win over Cross County to improve to 3-1 in league play.

Lairsey put together a double-double, scoring 20 points while grabbing 14 rebounds to lead BIC. Davis and Dilynn Strickland added 16 and 10 points respectively.

The Mustangs also took the junior high contest, 59-28, behind Austin Pike's game high 21 point performance.

BIC will return to action Tuesday night when they host East Poinsett County in a 2A-3 conference battle. The Mustangs will close out the week with another league game Friday night against Marmaduke at the Mustang Athletic Complex.
