Lois Viletta Haigwood
Lois Viletta Haigwood, 80, of Manila, Ark., died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011, at NEA/Baptist Health Care in Jonesboro. Born in the Skidway Community near Leachville, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Martha Warnick Deaton and had been a lifelong Leachville/Manila area resident. Mrs. Haigwood was a 1949 graduate of Manila High School and received her Bachelors Degree from Arkansas State College in Jonesboro. She was a longtime member of the Browns Chapel Baptist Church where she served as the church secretary for over 60 years. She was a retired school teacher having taught for the Leachville School District for 39 1/2 years.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Haigwood also was preceded in death by four brothers.
Survivors include her husband, Dwayne Haigwood, of the home; son, Steve Haigwood, and wife Cathy of Monette; granddaughter Kelly Flye and husband Jesse of Jonesboro. She also leaves two great-grandsons, Cooper and Dawson.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday at the Howard Funeral Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Larry Deaton officiating. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery.
The family received visitors Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home in Leachville.
Serving as pallbearers were Michael Deaton, Keith Deaton, David Joe Deaton, Randy Deaton, Lecil Mills and Renny James.
