Lois Viletta Haigwood
Mrs. Lois Viletta Haigwood, 80, of Manila, died Thursday Nov. 24, 2011, at NEA/Baptist Health Care in Jonesboro. Born in the Skidway Community near Leachville she was the daughter of the late Jim and Martha Warnick Deaton and had been a lifelong Leachville/Manila area resident. Mrs. Haigwood was a 1949 graduate of Manila High School and received her Bachelors Degree from Arkansas State College in Jonesboro. She was a longtime member of the Browns Chapel Baptist Church where she served as the church secretary for over 60 years. She was a retired school teacher having taught for the Leachville School District for 39-1/2 years.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Haigwood also was preceded in death by four brothers.
She leaves her husband, Dwayne Haigwood of the home;
Her son, Steve Haigwood and his wife, Cathy, of Monette;
Her grandaughter, Kelly Flye, and her husband, Jesse, of Jonesboro; and
Two great-grandsons, Cooper and Dawson.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Howard Funeral Chapel in Leachville with the Rev. Larry Deaton officiating. Burial will follow in the Manila Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6- p.m. Saturday at the funeral home in Leachville. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Deaton, Keith Deaton, David Joe Deaton, Randy Deaton, Lecil Mills and Renny James.
