Opening night for the 11th annual Lights of the Delta saw a good crowd, according to organizers, in spite of the weather.
Monday night, LOTD took in more than $200 and lots of new toys, all being donated to the Ignite program for its Christmas donations. This year, the big attraction on opening night was the unveiling of LOTD's first two displays animated to music.
The invocation was delivered by Mike Welch, pastor at Trinity Baptist Church, and was followed by the lighting of "Old Glory" and "O Tannenbaum" with animation synced up to "Carol of the Bells." For most, this was the first time seeing the display with music.
"This is going to be the first time anyone, with the exception of a few of us working here, have seen this display," said LOTD president George Hubbard, who later said, "Everyone was impressed with the new animated displays."
Starting tonight, Tuesdays are half-price at $5 per car. The Lights of the Delta continues on through Dec. 27. For more information visit www.lightsofthedelta.com.
