Manila swept a pair of 3A-3 conference games last week, defeating Hoxie 69-63 Friday night after taking down Corning 49-43 Tuesday night.
Brady Jones poured in 10 of his game high 24 points in the fourth quarter Friday night to lead the Lions to a six point win over the Mustangs at Manila. Hoxie had a 47-43 lead heading into the final frame, but the Lions outscored the Mustangs 26-16 to pull out the win.
Manila, who improved to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the league, also got double digits from Scott Eubanks, who had 19 points, and Zack Day, who added 10. Colton Watson led Hoxie with 18 points while Jacob Defries and Slade Sullins added 16 and 11 points respectively.
Jones scored 18 points in Manila's six point win Tuesday night at Corning. The Bobcats led 9-8 after the opening period before Manila took a 22-21 edge into the dressing room at the half. The Mustangs held a 35-32 advantage heading into the final period of play.
In junior high action, Manila defeated Hoxie 42-33 and lost to Corning 61-46.
The Lady Lions also picked up a pair of 3A-3 conference wins, defeating Tuckerman 64-52 Monday night before slipping past Harrisburg 42-39 Thursday night.
Shelby Wallace poured in a game high 23 points, including a perfect 19-19 performance from the foul line in Monday night's win over the Lady Bulldogs. Kirsten Adcock also hit double figures with 14 points while Taylor Teague pitched in 11 more. Kristen Wise scored six, Deven Burrow tallied five, Kailen Shelton netted three while Charlie Smith added two points. Manila was sharp from the free throw line, connecting on 27-34 while hitting five three pointers.
Sara Shipman led Tuckerman with 14 points.
Kirsten Adcock scored 24 points in Thursday night's victory at Harrisburg. Adcock drilled five of her six three pointers in the third quarter as Manila rallied from a 19-10 halftime deficit to take a 31-29 edge heading into the final frame.
Kelly Simpson led Harrisburg with 19 points while Kiley Howton added 11 more for the Lady Hornets.
In junior high action, Manila defeated Tuckerman 43-34 behind Haley Hicks, who poured in 22 points. Laura Woody and MacKenzie Tate had six points apiece. Taylor Harmon scored five while Heather Hollis and Sarah Penetecost added two points each.
Manila's Junior Lady Lions also won Thursday night's junior high game over Harrisburg, 46-37.
The Manila boys return to action Tuesday night when they travel to Tuckerman, while the Lady Lions will travel to Gosnell Monday night to face the Lady Pirates.
