The hosts looked to have the game wrapped up late in the fourth, but Manila's Shane Lee kept the Lions alive with a jaw-dropping 71-yard kickoff return for a touchdown with only 26 seconds remaining in the contest. Lee's run came just moments after Piggott took a 22-16 lead on a touchdown and conversion by Nick Haywood. The game looked to be all but decided until Lee broke loose on the big run.

The contest was a back-and-forth battle between the squads. Both entered the night winless in 3A-3 conference action.

Each team scored on their first possession. Piggott's Kain Haywood notched the first points of the evening, breaking loose on a 60-yard carry with 7:45 remaining in the first quarter. Lee had the answer for the Lions, turning on the jets for a 67-yard scoring jaunt with 7:29 left in the opening frame. Lion quarterback Zach Reinhart gave Manila an 8-6 lead with a successful two-point carry.

The Mohawks regained the lead with a 55-yard touchdown run by Nick Haywood with 7:41 left in the first half. Piggott quarterback Zach Redmon carried in the successful try for two to make it 14-8 in favor of the hosts. The score would stay the same throughout the entire third quarter.

Piggott got the ball first in the extra frame, which saw Nick Haywood score the 10-yard touchdown on just one play. He also carried in the conversion.

Despite the close nature of the contest, the Mohawks had the clear advantage in total yards. Piggott had 328 total yards on the night to Manila's 190.

Lee paced the Lion offense with 118 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries. Reinhart completed one of six passes for 18 yards with three interceptions in the loss.

Piggott was led by Nick Haywood's 130 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries. Kain Haywood added 123 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries. Piggott turned the ball over on three interceptions and a fumble on the evening.
