The 2nd Judicial Drug Task Force, along with the Osceola Police Department, the Blytheville Police Department and the Mississippi County Sheriff's Department, will participate in the third Nationwide Prescription Drug Take Back Initiative on Saturday, Oct. 29.
County residents will be able to bring all of their unused, unwanted or expired prescription drugs to one of the collection sites in Osceola and Blytheville. DTF agents, along with officers from Osceola and Blytheville will be on hand to ensure that all pills are collected and destroyed in a safe, legal and environmentally responsible manner.
According to Lt. Robb Rounsavall, special agent in charge for the DTF, by returning unused medications, citizens can help remove a potential supply of prescription drugs from those who might want to steal, abuse or sell them. It will also prevent these drugs from being taken from family medicine cabinets by children, grandchildren, or their friends, and will help protect small children from accidentally ingesting them.
Anyone wishing to participate in the drug take-back may drop off their prescription medications from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Blytheville Walmart and the Pill Peddler in Osceola.
