The Blytheville Emergency Squad will hold its annual fundraising auction event Saturday at the Main Exhibit Building on the Mississippi County Fairgrounds at Walker Park.
A silent auction will be held from 4-6 p.m., and the live auction with Mike Leathers will begin at 6 p.m. Items auctioned include jewelry and furniture, and have been donated by local businesses and private citizens. Also available will be barbecue by Harry Myers.
The Squad performs ambulance backup, wreck extraction, river rescue and other emergency services, and is staffed entirely by volunteers. It does not receive any public funding, and raises most of its operating budget through the auction event each year.
This year, funds raised will go to replace two small boats which the Squad has been using for the past 30 years.
Anyone wishing to donate items to be auctioned or looking for more information can contact Mike Godsey at 870-740-2248.
