The Caraway City Council completed plans to place the new Sales and Use Tax proposal on the ballot when they met Thursday, Sept. 8.
The council suspended the rules, declaring an emergency, and passed Ordinance 2011-4 to levy a Sales and Use Tax for the city's General Fun.

Alderman Austin Zamora moved to change the monthly council meetings from Thursday nights to Tuesday nights. After a discussion, the council tabled the issue until after the first of the year.
The council discussed the selling price for lots between Asher and Chicago Streets. The amount of $5,000 was proposed but no action was taken by the council. Mayor Barry Riley agreed to continue work on stipulations for the properties as discussed by the council.
Plans were made to clean up fallen trees on Asher Ditch across from the new lots that will be for sale.
Contract details continue to be formulated between the city and attorneys for the St. Francis Levee District.
Bob Blankenship has discontinued plans to build a new car wash in Caraway, due to the expense.
Plans are being made for the re-opening of the old car wash.
Two new businesses, Wear the Style and Michell Scales, have been opened or are in the process of opening.
Mayor Riley will continue to work on the 100 percent G.I.F. grant for bleachers.
Riley announced an ambulance payment of $3,000 is due in the next few months as well as other large year-end expenses for the city.
The council approved the request by Rowe's Chapel Baptist Church to set up a tent on the city hall parking area for a church revival.
A house on Missouri Street is being torn down slowly with plans for a new house to be built.
Compliments have been received for the good appearance and well kept cemetery owned by the city.
No action was taken on holding a National Night Out, as in previous years.
Basler Electric has been faxed paper work concerning property release and is awaiting a reply.
No action was taken on Alderman Bo James' request for purchasing new rifles for the Police Department.
The next regularly scheduled council meeting will be 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at city hall.
