KENNETT, Mo .-- The Gosnell Junior Pirates kicked off the 2011 season with an impressive, 32-14, win over the Kennett, Mo. Indians Thursday night.
Dewight Griffin passed for over 200 yards and through two touchdown passes and gained over 300 total yards on the night to start the season off.
Griffin hit Will Camp on a 70-yard touchdown strike on the Pirates first play from scrimmage as the Pirates built a 24-7 lead at halftime.
Griffin also hit Shawn Mitchell for a 32 yard touchdown pass and also ran one in on his own from eight yards out.
Michael Miller ran in a touchdown from a yard out and Timmy Moore scored a safety. Justin Mann had five catches in the contest.
The Pirates (1-0) head to Rivercrest next Thursday night to take on the Colts at the Cotton Patch.
