Elman Elyse Grooms
Mr. Elman Elyse Grooms, 89, of Leachville, died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born at Leachville he was the son of the late Ed and Evah Jackson Grooms and had lived most of his life in Leachville. He was a retired farmer, longtime member of the Leachville Assembly of God, and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a decorated U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theater and the Battle of Luzon.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, four sisters, and a grandson, Eddie Wayne Grooms.
Survivors include his loving wife of 70 years, Zell Vada Baldridge Grooms of Leachville; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Virginia Grooms of Paragould; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and LTC(Ret)David Wallace of Leachville; a brother, Marvin "Tuss" Grooms and his wife, Laverne of Leachville; three grandchildren, Jason Wallace, Kelly Wallace, and Chris Grooms and his wife, Shawna; and two great-grandchildren, Blaine and Brylee Grooms.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Tom Newman and Rev. David Price officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Leachville Cemetery.
The family received visitors from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
