The following is a roundup of several ongoing court cases in the Caruthersville area:

Cagle review set for July 18

A man charged with murder in the first-degree and armed criminal action over a year ago is now scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Caruthersville in July.

Donald Cagle, 49, was being housed in Fulton, Mo., after an incompetency hearing

Cagle was given a competency hearing and sent to Fulton. On May 19, Brandon Sanchez, Cagle's court appointed attorney, appeared in front of Judge Byron Luber. Luber scheduled a review date of July 18 to set a preliminary hearing. Cagle will remain in Fulton until that date.

Smith waives preliminary right

In another murder case, a Caruthersville man who was charged with the murder of 29-year old-Stephen Smith, waived his right to a preliminary hearing in front of Judge Luber and is scheculed to appear June 21 in front of Judge Fred Copeland.

Charles Cecil , 50, appeared in court last week and was bound over to Pemiscot County CIrcuit Court Division I. He remains incarcerated at the Pemiscot County Justice Center in lieu of bail.

Carter arraigned for throwing baby out window

A Caruthersville man made his first appearance in court in front of Judge Luber last week after being charged with several felonies related to a domestic assault in which he allegedly threw a baby out of a window. Travis Carter, 20, was arrested by the Caruthersville Police Department after officers responded to a call concerning a domestic assault.

CPD Chief Chris Riggs said his officers were called to a home at Taven Apartments on Monday where the female victim said Carter broke a window and entered her house. The woman had an order of protection against Carter. Riggs said Carter assaulted the female and threw a baby inside of the home outside through an open window. Carter fled the scene and was arrested a short time later without incident.

Carter was arraigned on one count of burglary in the first-degree, one count of domestic assault and one count of endangering the welfare of a child in the first-degree, all felonies; along with one count of a violation of an order of protection of an adult, a misdemeanor. He was arraigned in front of Judge Luber and he was appointed an attorney with the Public Defender's Office.

Luber set a preliminary hearing date of June 27 for the felony charges and a bench trial date of the June 27 for the misdemeanor charge. Carter remains incarcerated in the Pemiscot County Justice Center in lieu of a $75,000 bond.
