BASEBALL Bay 4, Bradley 3 Jake Martin scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth as Bay crawled back down, 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh, to defeat Bradley, 4-3, in extra innings. Zac Cramer struck out 15 batters and allowed just five hits over eight innings pitched for the Yellowjackets who moved to the quarterfinal round...

The 1A State Baseball and Softball Tournaments continued action Monday afternoon at the Blytheville Youth Sportsplex. Four softball and five baseball games were played with three games going into extra innings. Play continues at noon Tuesday with the softball semifinals and baseball quarterfinals.The fourth seeded host Armorel Tigers take on second seeded Scranton, which defeated Calico Rock on Saturday, at noon on Field 7. Here is a wrap up of Monday's action.

BASEBALL

Bay 4, Bradley 3

Jake Martin scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth as Bay crawled back down, 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh, to defeat Bradley, 4-3, in extra innings.

Zac Cramer struck out 15 batters and allowed just five hits over eight innings pitched for the Yellowjackets who moved to the quarterfinal round.

Kirby 11,

South Side Bee Branch 10

Down 10-8 in the top of the seventh, South Side Bee Branch scored four runs to tie the game only to have Kirby score a run in the bottom half of the inning to come away with the 11-10 win.

Garrett Colums two-run double down the left field line with two strikes and two out tied the game for Bee Branch in the top of the inning.

Kirby's Derek Ray scored on Lance Golden's sacrifice fly to center in the bottom of the seventh to win it for Kirby.

Bee Branch led 4-0 after the first half inning but Kirby scored three in the bottom of the first, five in the bottom of the third and two more in the bottom of the fifth before South Side Bee Branch's comeback.

Viola 10, Sacred Heart 1

Viola jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first inning on its way to a 10-1 win over Sacred Heart.

Dolan Johnson allowed just one run on two hits while striking out seven to pick up the win for Viola.

Jacob Payne went 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored to lead the Viola offense.

Midland 19, Trinity Christian 5

Midland knocked off defending 1A state champion Trinity Christian Warriors Monday with a 19-5 win five innings.

Midland scored six in the first, nine in the second and four in the third on their way to the victory.

Hillcrest 12, Mulberry 3

SOFTBALL

West Side Greers Ferry 1,

Viola 0

Keeleigh Davis scored the winning run in the eighth inning as West Side Greers Ferry defeated Viola, 1-0.

Terika Cowley allowed just two hits and struck out nine to pick up the complete game shut out victory.

Viola's Keirsten Moore was just as impressive allowing just one run on one hit while striking out eight in the lose.

Scranton 2, Weiner 1

Weiner took a slim, 1-0, lead into the top of the seventh before Scranton tied the game and won it with an RBI single from S. Dunham scoring C. Siebermorgan. Scranton shut down a Weiner rally in the bottom half of the inning to pick up the 2-1 win.

Nemo Vista 7,

Mt. Vernon 1

Nemo Vista scored two in the first, one in both the second and third, two in the fifth and one in the sixth on their way to a 7-1 win over Mt. Vernon.

Jenna Givens struck out eight while allowing just two hits over seven innings pitched. Jessica Brown collected two singles and an RBI and Lauren Baugh singled and scored three runs to lead the Nemo Vista offense.

Taylor 7, Calico Rock 3

Down, 3-0, in the bottom of the fifth, Taylor exploded for five in the inning and two in the fifth to get the come from behind, 7-3 win, over Calico Rock.

Katelyn Sewell struck out nine batters and went 2-4 with 2 RBIs at the plate to lead Taylor into the quarterfinals.
