Oliver Gene Marcum
Mr. Oliver Gene Marcum, 60, of Holly Springs, Miss., died Sunday, May 8, 2011, at his residence.
Mr. Marcum, a self employed trim carpenter until his retirement, was a hard working man, always ready to lend a helping hand where needed and who taught his children values and how to be responsible. He was such a strong man, his children never saw him cry. Mr. Marcum loved to work in his yard and was also an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was the son of the late William Oliver Marcum. Mr. Marcum was also preceded in death by his first wife, Judy Moore Marcum; one grandson, Brandon Marcum; and two sisters, Carrie Holobaugh and Linda Roland.
He leaves his wife, Catherine Woodard Marcum of Holly Springs;
His mother, Mary Virginia Williams Marcum of Byhalia, Miss.;
His children, Billy Marcum of Byhalia; and Jeremy Morrison and Danielle Marcum of Holly Springs;
Two brothers, Billy Mac Marcum of Bartlett, Tenn. and Joe Marcum of Mount Pleasant, Miss.;
Three sisters, Barbara Crowder of Arlington, Tenn., Betty Marcum of Houston, Texas, and Debbie Jean Rodgers of Yellville.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at Dogwood Cemetery in Blytheville. The family will receive visitors from 1-2 p.m. today at Cobb Funeral Home.
