The Blytheville Waterworks is partnering with area businesses to increase the availability of the blue recycling bags in the community.

Previously, the blue bags were available only at the Blytheville Waterworks Tower. It is the hope of the Waterworks that increased availability of the bags will see an increased usage by the citizens of Blytheville.

Recycled items include many types of plastic, paper and metal cans including aluminum cans. Those who participate in the recycling program should only place paper in one bag and all other plastic and metal items in another. This is to prevent cross-contamination of the paper, which would render it unfit for recycling purposes. Glass is not accepted.

Area businesses partnering with Blytheville Waterworks include the Greater Blytheville Area Chamber of Commerce, The Blytheville Courier News, Hays Grocery Store and Westminster Village. Recycling bags are also available at NuWay Recycling at 829 Henderson St., off of Division Street.

Westminster and South Pointe residents can obtain the bags at the Westminster Village office.

Scheduled pickup of recycling bags follows a four-week schedule.

Blytheville residents whose regular garbage pickup is on Tuesday will have their recycling bags picked up on the first week of the month. Those whose garbage pickup is on Wednesday will have their recycling bags picked up on the second week of the month. Regular pickup on Thursday will be picked up on the third week, and regular pickup on Friday will see recycle bags picked on the fourth week of the month.
