Calling all bean eaters! Don't forget Monday night for a fun, fun bean feed! We will have several kinds of beans (four to be exact); and several kinds of cornbread from several great cooks.

Calling all bean eaters! Don't forget Monday night for a fun, fun bean feed! We will have several kinds of beans (four to be exact); and several kinds of cornbread from several great cooks. For dessert we will have several choices there, and tea and coffee. Hopefully, with a little luck, we will have several types of entertainment. This is a very important event that will help us fix a leaky roof. So come enjoy a great night with us, fill your tummy, and enjoy a fun time.

I read recently a letter on Voices (Democrat-Gazette) from a Grace Palculict of El Dorado, Ark., that states that she is touched by the commercials on saving a dog by adoption, but "there are unborn babies aborted every day in the U.S." and it is frustrating to her that animals should be considered above babies. In my opinion, they are both considerably important, given the fact neither asked to to be brutalized nor born into this chaotic society. None the less, they are victims of humans and their devil-may-care carelessness. Her last statement, "I pray that we all might be as passionate about our innocent unborns as we tend to be about our pets -- I pray for their protection of the unborn like we try to protect our pets." It is time we all face the reality in that we must keep in mind that we humans make victims of the voiceless and pray everyone hear our voices and prevent the useless killings of the innocent. One is as important as the other.

Creative Kids Learning Center graced our establishment with a great donation of trash bags, gloves, paper towels, cat resolution (to prevent fleas), a case of wet dog food, bleach, Ajax dishwashing liquid, vitamin supplement, shampoo, hand soap, 40 pounds of dry cat food, and 29 pounds of dry dog food. How about that?

Jessica and Eric Harder also came bearing wonderful gifts of 54 pounds of cat food, 120 pounds of cat litter, towels, three 25-ounce bags of dog treats, seven bottles of Ajax dishwashing liquid, six 40-ounce containers of Germex, four 64-ounce bottles of hand soap and bleach Thanks to all of you for your kindness and generosity -- we do so appreciate all that help us through the tough times. Seems like we get ahead for such a short time and then here comes something else that must be attended to. This is life as we all know it!

We will surely be indebted to any and all of you that come Monday night. As most of you know, we are willing to work for our fur children. See ya then, at the Jaycee Building -- come and bring a friend. If you are short on friends, bring someone else's friend! It starts at 6 p.m., but if you get hungry, come on out we will feed you early. Takeouts will be available.

As Jazz would say: "Friendship improves happiness, and abates misery by doubling our joy, and dividing our grief." (Addison)

Shelter needs: Your continued support. Presently our needs have been fulfilled and we are forever grateful. God Bless.
