Bobby White
Bobby Lynn White, 79, of Manila, passed from this life early Saturday, March 12, 2011, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born at Manila, he was the son of the late Albert and Oshia Shedd White and was a lifelong Manila resident. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, was a retired banker, and along with his wife, Zetta, owned and operated White's Grocery for many years. Mr. White served 34 years with the Manila Fire Department and several years on the Manila Cemetery Board. He also served 10 years on the Mississippi County Quorum Court, was a Shriner, and a 32nd Degree Mason.
Survivors include his wife, Zetta Jackson White of the home; two sons, Michael White and his wife, Cindy, of Manila and Barry White and his wife, Dee, of Memphis; a daughter, Leigh Ann Leslie and her husband, Sam, of Kingston, Tenn.; a brother, Jimmy White of Manila; a sister, Mrs. Anita Beasley of Atkins; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Rev. William Piercy officiating. Burial will follow in Manila Cemetery with members of the Manila Fire Department serving as active and honorary pallbearers.
The family received visitors Monday evening from 6-8 at the funeral home.
