The Gosnell Pirates dropped to 1-1 on the season after an 11-6 loss in five innings to the 5A Paragould Rams Thursday.

GOSNELL -- The Gosnell Pirates dropped to 1-1 on the season after an 11-6 loss in five innings to the 5A Paragould Rams Thursday.

The Pirates led 4-0 after the first inning but the Rams scored three in the third and fourth to take a 6-4 lead. Gosnell tied it with two in the bottom half of the inning before Paragould plated five in the top of the fifth to get the win.

Blake Sullivan (2-3), Bryce Smith (1-2), Ethan Ballard (1-2), Ricky Gable (1-2) and Jake Westmoreland (1-4) led the offense for the Pirates.

Kayman Bryant (2-4) and Aaron Schenk (1-2, home run) led the way for the Rams. Gosnell (1-1) heads to Marion this afternoon to play Harding Academy in the Marion Tournament at 5:45.
