William Ronald 'Ronnie' Laffoon

Mr. William Ronald "Ronnie" Laffoon, 71, of Leachville, passed from this life Monday, Feb. 28, 2011, at the NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro. Born in Dermott, he was the son of the late Duford Jewell and Norvell Mason Laffoon and had been a Leachville resident for over 60 years. He was a 1957 graduate of Leachville High School and served four years in the U.S. Army. He was a former employee of United Telephone Company and was retired from Barton's Lumber Company. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Towell.

He leaves his wife of 46 years, Brenda Murphy Laffoon of the home;

One son, Tony Laffoon of Little Rock;

One daughter, Melinda Smith of Jonesboro;

One brother, Damon Laffoon of Dover;

One sister, Betty Blocker of Stuttgart; and

Two grandchildren, Lindsey Smith and Matt Smith, both of Jonesboro.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with the Rev. Jerry Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Leachville Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Tony Laffoon, Matt Smith, Greg Jones, Gene Rogers, Norman Hargrove, Earl Smith and Johnny Boyd.
