Blytheville firemen were busy Thursday afternoon, fighting an accidental fire on West Rose and Center streets.

Blytheville firemen were busy Thursday afternoon, fighting an accidental fire on West Rose and Center streets.

The former apartment complex, Sun Valley Courts, 2200 West Rose, is seen burning around 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

Firemen arrived on the scene at 1:50 p.m. and were released at 3:39 p.m.

The fire did heavy damage. Firemen contained and controlled the fire.

Fire Chief Mike Carney said the condemned apartment building had been vacant for about 2 1/2 years, though there were signs someone was staying inside the abandoned structure.

He said no one was inside the structure at the time firemen arrived.

No gas or electric was hooked up to the facility. The fire is still under investigation.
