Buffalo Island Central swept a pair of 2A-3 conference battles last week, defeating Marmaduke 53-46 Tuesday night at Monette before traveling to Marked Tree and coming away with a 58-54 decision over the Indians Friday night. The victories improved BIC to 13-6 overall and 7-8 in conference play.
Ben Cole poured in 17 points while James Tate and Brent Ray added 13 apiece in BIC's victory over Marmaduke. BIC took an 18-12 lead after one period of play and held a
24-18 edge at the half. The Mustangs led 32-27 after three quarters. Morgan Hawley led Marmaduke with 28 points and eight rebounds.
Jeremy Smith led four Mustangs in double figures in BIC's victory over Marked Tree. Smith finished with 16 points while Ben Cole scored 14, Daniel Davis tallied 13 and James Tate added 10. BIC led 16-9 after the first period and 28-23 at the half before the Indians rallied to tie the game 40-40 entering the fourth quarter.
Darius Ivy led Marked Tree with a game high 26 points while Allen Buchanan and Thadious Moore added 11 and 10 points respectively.
In junior high action, BIC slipped past Marmaduke 60-56 behind Nick Bollinger's 25 point performance. Jacob Sanders and Austin Pike added 13 and 11 points respectively.
Bollinger also paced the Mustangs with 19 points in BIC's 51-39 victory at Marked Tree. The win lifts BIC's overall record to 19-8 on the season. Octavius Dean led the Indians with 15 points.
BIC returns to action Monday night, hosting Ridgefield Christian. The Mustangs will close out conference play Friday night at Rector.
Lady Mustangs
Marmaduke's Lady Greyhounds invaded the Mustang Athletic Complex Monday night and shocked the Lady Mustangs 61-55, knocking BIC out of first place in the 2A-3 conference. The Lady Greyhounds shot a whopping 43 free throws, connecting on 34 to help pull off the upset.
Whitley Boggs led Marmaduke with 16 points while Jessica Lee recorded a double-double, scoring 13 points while grabbing 15 boards. Jessica Boggs and Alexis Jones added 10 points apiece.
BIC, which dropped to 26-5 overall and 12-2 in league play, was led by Brittany Fowler's 15 points and 10 assists. Jenna Pike also scored 15 points for the Lady Mustangs, who hit 20-25 foul shots.
In junior high action, Marmaduke squeezed past BIC 42-39.
The Lady Mustangs bounced back Thursday night with a 56-41 victory at Marked Tree. Brittany Fowler and Hayley Parker both recorded double-doubles to lead BIC, who improved to 27-5 overall and 13-2 in 2A-3 conference play. Fowler finished with 15 points and 10 assists while Parker added 14 points and 14 boards. Cassidy Qualls and Kaylee Greathouse chipped in 11 points apiece.
Alytrius Perry led Marked Tree with a game high 21 points while Quanesia Perry added 12.
Hannah Poe scored 11 points to help lead BIC to a 38-35 win in junior girls action.
The Lady Mustangs will return to action Tuesday night, traveling to Valley View to take on the Lady Blazers in non-conference play. BIC will finish its conference schedule Thursday night at Rector.
