Harold Clayton Koonce Sr.
Mr. Harold Clayton Koonce Sr., 78, of Corning, went to be the Lord Friday, Jan. 28, 2011. He was born Jan. 8, 1933, in Blytheville, son of B'Otis and Lura (Cable) Koonce. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Billy Koonce; a sister Alice Barton; and grandson Clayton Koonce.
He leaves his wife, Bobbie Caroline (Estes) Koonce of Corning;
One son, Clay Koonce and his wife, Sue, of New Jersey;
One daughter, Susan Claire Hoffmann and her husband, Tom, of Little Rock;
His three grandchildren, Casey Cross of Dallas, Kinley Cross of Los Angeles, and Carson Hoffmann of Little Rock; and
Other relatives and many friends.
Mr. Koonce retired from Arkansas Power and Light Company after working 40 years and enjoyed fishing, hunting and more fishing. His life was centered around his family, church and study of the Bible. He will be remembered for his involvement in Little League Baseball and his contribution to the Corning Fire Department where he served as chief for many years. He was very proud of his family and was surrounded by them on his last day and will be missed by all.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Old Reyno Freewill Baptist Church in Reyno, with the Rev. Anthony Dowdy and the Rev. Andy Patterson officiating. The family received friends 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Ermert Funeral Home.
