William V. Wyatt
Dr. William V. Wyatt, 70, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, in Jonesboro. He was born March 17, 1940, to William H. and Mary Grace Wyatt in Blytheville.
He was Professor of Chemistry at Arkansas State University from 1967 until his retirement in 2010. He was selected as one of the "First 100 Distinguished Faculty" at ASU in April, 2010.
Dr. Wyatt received his BS in Chemistry/Math, from Arkansas State College in 1961. He received his MS degree in Physical Chemistry in 1965 from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. He received the PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of Arkansas in 1972.
Dr. Wyatt held memberships in the Society of the Sigma Xi, American Chemical Society, Electron Microscope Society of North America, Association of Official Analytical Chemist, and Arkansas Academy of Science. He was a charter member of Lambda Chi Alpha at ASU.
Dr. Wyatt leaves his loving wife, Jean Hampton Wyatt;
Three sons, William K. "Buttermilk" and Marsha Wyatt of Jonesboro, Richard and Donna Wyatt of Cabot, and Stephen and Sheila Wyatt of Atlanta, Ga.;
One daughter, Debbie Gallant and Mark Schroeder of Hickman, Tenn.;
One brother, Richard H. "Dick" Wyatt and Olivia of Little Rock;
One sister, Ethel Jean Elledge and Larry of Springfield, Ill.; and
Two grandsons, William Henry Wyatt of Jonesboro and Eric Hamilton Wyatt of Atlanta.
Visitation will be held from 3-4 p.m. Wednesday in Emerson Memorial Chapel. Funeral services and burial will be private.
