The season was kicked off with the annual Leachville Christmas Parade held Saturday, Nov. 27, with fire trucks, police vehicles, floats, horses, four wheelers, antique vehicles, trucks, tractors, walkers, and Santa who arrived on Leachville's antique fire truck...

The season was kicked off with the annual Leachville Christmas Parade held Saturday, Nov. 27, with fire trucks, police vehicles, floats, horses, four wheelers, antique vehicles, trucks, tractors, walkers, and Santa who arrived on Leachville's antique fire truck.

Chairman for this year's parade was Paula Bowen. She expressed her appreciation to everyone who helped make the parade a success.

Mr. and Mrs. Wilburn Lovelady were the Grand Marshals.

Among the participants were police vehicles and fire trucks from Leachville Caraway, Monette, Mississippi County, Arbyrd, Cardwell, Manila, Hornersville. Other participants included Caraway Search and Rescue and Brown's Auto Glass.

Floats and participants included Leachville Housing Authority, Garys Food Mart, Frosty, Bates and Roper Family, The Hawkins, L& M Racing, Leachville Troop 42, Scouts, Black Oak Baptist, Leachville Girl Scouts, Little Magical Minds.

Following the parade, the city of Leachville hosted an open house at the Melody Theater where Santa arrived talked to the children. Pictures were made with Santa and given to the children.

"We enjoy doing this for the children," Mayor Shelia Spurlock said.

Cookies and soft drinks were served to the guests.

Winners of the parade were:

Float division:

First place -- Leachville Housing Authority, "The Night Before Christmas."

Second place -- Little Magical Minds, "Toy Story-Andy's Room."

Third place -- Black Oak Baptist Church.

ATV, lawn mowers, and motorcycles division:

First place -- Bobby Webb's Gold Wing.

Second place -- A.J. Borden's 4-wheeler.

Third place -- Cody Loveless' lawn mower.

Classic Cars division:

First place -- Bill and Pam Shirley, 1923 T-Bucket.

Second place -- Al Douglas, 1929 Model A.

Third place -- W.T. Bibb, 1954 GMC.

Horse division:

First place -- Jarrett Shirley and horse, Rain.

Second place -- Mike Adams and horse, Dusty.

Third place -- Taylor Forester and horse, Tequila.
