Manila took a pair of 3A-3conference victories in senior girls basketball action last week, defeating Harrisburg 54-44 after opening the week with a 58-41 win at Tuckerman.
Freshman Kirsten Adcock drained four three pointers en route to an 18 point performance in the Lady Lion's 10 point win over Harrisburg Thursday night at Manila. Shelby Wallace added 13 more to join Adcock in double figures.
Taylor Teague scored seven, Peyton Joyner and Jordan Robertson pitched in four points apiece, Taylor Craig netted three while Emily Cook and Cortney Craine chipped in two points each to round out the Lady Lion scoring attack. Nicki Pierce scored a game high 22 points to lead the Lady Hornets.
Manila held a 15-11 lead after the opening period and took a 30-25 lead into the dressing room at the half. Harrisburg battled back to pull within 40-39 after three quarters, but the Lady Lions outscored Harrisburg 14-5 in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.
Manila went to the foul line 31 times and made 21. The Lady Lions also nailed five three pointers on the night.
Manila began the week with a 17 point victory at Tuckerman. Shelby Wallace paced the Lady Lions with 20 points. Manila took a 21-8 lead after the first quarter and held a
32-16 lead at the half. The Lady Lions moved ahead 47-28 after three quarters.
Emily Cook and Kirsten Adcock chipped in nine points apiece for Manila. Cortney Craine and Jordan Robertson added six points each while Peyton Joyner and Kristen Wise tallied three points apiece. Taylor Teague rounded out the scoring attack with two points. The Lady Lions hit 20-28 free throw attempts and drilled six treys on the evening.
Tara Anderson led Tuckerman with 12 points while Amanda Kendrick added 10 more. The Lady Bulldogs went to the charity stripe only twice, making both attempts. Tuckerman hit one three pointer on the evening.
The Junior Lady Lions split a pair of contests, losing to Tuckerman 37-30 Monday night on the road before defeating Harrisburg 52-36 Thursday night at home.
Emily Caldwell scored a game high 14 points to lead Tuckerman. The game was tied 13-13 after the first period before Manila rallied for an 18-17 halftime edge. Tuckerman came back to take a 28-23 lead after three quarters. The Lady Bulldogs hit 6-10 foul shots and made one trey.
Deven Burrow drained three treys in scoring 12 points to lead Manila. Bailey Towell tallied eight points, Charlie Smith chipped in four while Kailen Shelton, Haley Hicks and Heather Hollis added two points apiece. Manila hit 9-16 from the foul line and made three treys on the night.
Burrow and Shelton pitched in 17 points apiece to lead Manila in their 16 point victory over Harrisburg. Hicks scored seven, Smith tallied five while Hollis and Lauren Woody netted three points apiece to round out the Lady Lion scoring. Manila drilled seven three pointers on the night.
The Lady Lions and the Lady Hornets fought to a 12-12 tie after the first quarter before Manila squeezed ahead 22-20 at the half. The Lady Lions outscored Harrisburg 20-9 in the third period to take a 42-29 cushion into the final frame.
