Charles Dean "Boe" Adams
Charles Dean "Boe" Adams, 76, of Leachville, prominent area landowner and businessman, passed from this life Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010 at the Advanced Care Hospital of White County in Searcy. Born at El Paso, Ark., he was the son of the late Orn and Emma Neal Adams and was a 1954 graduate of Leachville High School. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Arkansas Polytechnic College in 1958, where he was an all AIC basketball player for the Wonderboys, leading the team to its first ever playoff appearance. He later coached high school basketball, football, and baseball at several northwest Arkansas schools. He served in the U.S. Army having attained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant and was later assigned to West Point Academy as an instructor for various sporting activities. Mr. Adams was an assistant coach for the 1960 Gold Medal Olympic basketball team having coached such greats as Jerry West. In 1965 he coached the first integrated baseball team in Little Rock.
