Ellen Joyce Dunavin
Ellen Joyce Dunavin (nee Boyd), 70, passed away Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010, at Southlake Methodist Hospital in Merrillville, Ind. Many knew her while she grew up in Paragould as Joyce Boyd or after her marriage as Joyce Dunavin. She attended school in Paragould. She was born Sept. 8, 1940, at Bard in Greene County, Arkansas to Ernest Boyd and Magdalene Miles Boyd. She lived in the Northwest Indiana area for the last 30 years and was formerly of Monette and Paragould. Mrs. Dunavin loved reading, enjoyed puzzles, needlepoint, crochet, secret recipes, writing to penpals and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Jeff W. Dunavin of Lake Village, Ind.; two sons, Mark (Brenda) Dunavin of Paragould and William (Daniel Dunn) Dunavin; four granddaughters, KaSandra (Tom) Haynes of Gainesville, Fla., Keisha Dunavin of Paragould, Ashley and Hannah Dunavin of Shepherdsville, Ky.; two sisters, Edra Lois Kucher of Davison, Mich., and Edna Louise Nelson of Crown Point, Ind.; stepbrother, Ed Wilkinson of Delaplaine; as well as many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Timothy Wayne Dunavin.
Memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept 17, at Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Monette with Rev. Arthur Phelps officiating.
Also assisting with the services was Eller-Brady Funeral Home of Cedar Lake, Ind.
Family and friends gathered from 1 p.m. until time of service at the Gregg Funeral Home in Monette.
