The Manila Fire Department held a fundraising barbecue on Friday and Saturday at the Manila Fire Station.
Firefighters and retired firemen grilled over 1,200 pounds of chicken, Boston butt, and ribs.
Fire Chief Keith Bennett expressed his appreciation to everyone for their help and support. The Manila Business Women made fried pies and donated it for the project. Paul Scott Poag provided the huge grill.
The two-day barbecue provided carry-outs and dine-in at the fire station. Food was picked up and delivered.
"We had food ordered from Blytheville, Osceola, and Leachville," Retired fireman and one of the cooks, Gary Hill said.
Proceeds from the barbecue will go to purchase rope rescue equipment and turnout gear.
