The six towns that make up Buffalo Island are getting ready for their annual Relay for Life being held June 25 at the Leachville City Park.

Brenda Matheny of Leachville is the chairman of this year's Buffalo Island Relay for Life and says the theme is "Decades." Matheny explained that each booth set up at the Relay on June 25 will represent various eras, such as the 1920s and 1950s.

Since the Buffalo Island Relay encompasses so many towns, each town has an honorary survivor instead of just having one or two honorary survivors for the overall relay. This year's Buffalo Island Relay for Life honorary survivors are Jerry Bates of Leachville, Helen Winstead of Manila, Debra Sexton of Monette, John Kisner of Black Oak, Patsy Crews of Caraway and Mary Robertson of Lake City.

Teams who want to have a booth at this year's Buffalo Island Relay for Life but have not yet signed up will need to contact Matheny by today. Matheny said teams can call her at home at 870-539-6728 or on her cell phone at 870-530-1113.

The Buffalo Island Relay for Life Survivor Social will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Leachville Community Center.
