Riverside swept a pair of games Saturday afternoon to complete a successful week of baseball, running their record to 11-5 on the season. The Rebels began the day rallying to take a 2-1 victory over Crowley's Ridge Academy before knocking off host Bay 12-3 in the nightcap.
Morgan Fletcher picked up the win in the opener, pitching all five innings, striking out two while allowing just three base hits.
Josh Driver delivered a game winning two-out RBI single in the bottom of the fifth inning to lift the Rebels over the Falcons in game one. Driver also came up big in the nightcap, belting three more hits while driving in four runs in Riverside's victory over Bay.
Logan Meurer picked up the win in the nightcap to earn his first victory of the season, pitching four innings while allowing three runs and two hits. Meurer struck out five Yellowjackets on the day.
Jake Love added four hits and drove in three runs while Meurer added a pair of base knocks while also driving in three Rebels. Morgan Fletcher picked up a pair of hits and two RBIs while M.J. Brewer also laced a pair of singles.
The Rebels began the week with a 10-5 victory over old nemesis Buffalo Island Central Monday afternoon at Monette. M.J. Brewer blasted a home run and picked up the victory on the mound for Riverside. Brewer pitched a complete game, going seven innings while striking out five Mustangs. Jake Love and Morgan Fletcher both went 2-3 at the plate and drove in a pair of runs apiece. Cody Stallings went 2-4 and knocked in a pair of RBIs.
Mark Stone and Heath Hawkins led the Mustangs with three hits apiece.
Riverside blasted Black Rock 22-6 Tuesday afternoon at Lake City, scoring 10 runs in the second inning. The Rebels collected five hits in their big inning, including Brock Adams' two-run double and Jake Love's two-run single. Cody Stallings improved his record to 2-0 on the year, going four innings while allowing just three earned runs on five hits. Stallings fanned four while walking two.
Adams drove in five runs on the day while going 3-4 at the plate. Love knocked in three runs on a pair of hits. Logan Meurer had two hits and four RBIs while Morgan Fletcher laced a pair of singles.
Marmaduke handed Riverside its only loss of the week with a 7-5 victory Thursday afternoon at Lake City. Mason Knight struck out 14 Rebels while going the distance to pick up the win for the Greyhounds. Knight (3-1) allowed only five hits on the day.
Jake Love took the loss for Riverside. Morgan Fletcher led the Rebels at the plate with a pair of doubles and an RBI.
Riverside destroyed Osceola Communications, Arts and Business School with a 26-13 romp Friday afternoon at Lake City.
Cody Stallings drove in three runs on a pair of hits to lead the Rebels offensively. Morgan Fletcher also had a pair of hits while driving in two runs on the day. Lathe Lunsford added three base hits while Dylan Wright added a pair of singles.
Riverside will return to the field Monday afternoon hosting Marked Tree in a 4:30 game at Lake City. The Rebels travel to Jonesboro to take on Ridgefield Christian Tuesday afternoon before returning home to host Rector Thursday afternoon at Lake City. Riverside will close the week when they venture to Cherry Valley to take on the Cross County Thunderbirds in a 2A-3 conference matchup.
