Dennis Glen Metheny
Dennis Glen Metheny, 66, of Washington, Mo., formerly of Leachville, died Monday, April 12, 2010, at St. Johns Mercy Hospital in St. Louis. Born at Leachville, he was the son of the late Glen and Della Hyde Metheny and had been a longtime Washington area resident. He was a Leachville High School Class of 1960 graduate and had earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Arkansas State University and later a Masters Degree form Vanderbilt University in Nashville. He had taught school in the Bloomfield and Ritnour School District in St. Louis. He was the owner and operator of Dennis Metheny Adjusting Company in Washington, Mo., and was a member of the Kiwanis Civic Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim Metheny and Perry Metheny; two sisters, Blanche Conrad and Patsy Faye Metheny.
He is survived by two daughters, Kelley Carter of Washington, Mo., and Stacy Warner of Warrensburg, Mo.; two brothers, Ben Metheny of Leachville and Larry Metheny of Kennett, Mo.; two sisters, Betty Jo Mason of Columbia, Mo., and Sonja Hosman of Paragould; and three grandchildren.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Howard Funeral Chapel in Leachville with Mr. Roger Chaffin officiating. Burial was in the Greene County Memorial Gardens in Paragould. The family received visitors Thursday morning from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
